Brief History of TV in the UK

It is believed that the first ever television was invited in 1897 by a German inventor called Karl Braun. Born in  Hesse-Kassel, Germany on the 6th of June 1850, Karl grew up to become a physics professor at the university of Strasbourg, while still teaching at the university he developed and built the first ever cathode-ray tube and oscilloscope (CRT) which resembles the old style modern box style TVs which only now are being replaced by the flat screen technology like liquid chyristal display (LCD) , light emitting diode (LED) or Plasma displays.

while this is the first TV that is similar to what we in today generation sometimes still use, other inventors also helped contribute to the invention and development of the modern day television, one of these is John Logie Baird who some people claim is the real inventor of the television, but other people also disagree claiming another inventor Philo Taylor Farnsworth was actually the inventor of the television.

While John and Philo seem to have invented the television after Karl Braun (John in 1924 and Philo in 1927) John seems to get a lot more credit then and according to history books and websites is the main developer of the television and this is taught in schools in Britain, and in some parts of the world. where as in America it is Philo that gets the credit and in Germany and Japan Karl Braun is the one who is credited. I have chosen to go with Karl Braun as the person who invented the television as his is most like modern days

while this is the invention of the TV there was no actual form of broadcasting and transmitting signals to the TVs, this happens in 1922 on the  18th  of October in the UK, this was when the BBC (British Broadcasting Company) was first set up and founded. 2 weeks after this happened the license fees where brought in costing at the time 10 shillings which amounts to about £22.30 using the retail price index in today’s money, which is a lot less then the £145 that we have to pay today, granted we do receive a lot more content and channels then back then and of course it is in colour but it is still a large increase since it started.

TV from here progressed and new inventions where made including the invention of the colour tv in 1946 and into the high definition use in TV and now starting into the 3d side of tv, tv will progress as long as we the target market consume and look for higher and better advances in tv
