Have Online videos lowered the standard of television production

looking at the standard of domestic videos compared to that of the content released both online a through the TV that's done by the professionals, i personally feel that online videos in now way lower the standards of television, but in fact challenge the TV company's and corporations to create more interesting content and then advertise it to the best standard that will draw in the viewers that they are aiming for.

looking firstly and the domestic side of video production, it is now a lot easier the the introduction of high quality cheap cameras and editing software now being available to not just the high end editing houses and televising company's everyday people can learn in there own homes how to shoot, edit and publish there own content aimed at a specific target market. it is also become easier to share the content we as the domestic side of video production with the introduction of websites such as vevo, youtube and facebook (videos tab)  we can publish our work with the knowledge it is aimed at the right target market and that it is up to the people watching it to judge the quality of the video and allow the best of the content to rise to the top and be the most viewed.

professionals while having the better equipment large budget and team of experienced people working with them do not have to worry about people not liking there created content and it not receiving the views they desire as most likely it will be displayed on a TV channel where no other options are displayed in menu bars or adverts therefore giving the perception that it is the only content out there on at the moment that can be watched, this gives that TV program a leading edge over the domestically created content

How has the digital world changed the way we consume and create TV?

technology is always and constantly changing and evolving to make it easier faster and more assessable for people to view and create content. through media portals such as youtube blogger and facebook we can upload and share TV clips reviews on films on our own creative content that we have made, this new found technology and freedom has given the smallest of voices and budget, a light from which they can share with the world there media they have created.

One of the most used website online at the moment is youtube, this website easily gets half a billion views every week, through this site people create and share content they have created using anything from a £50 hand-held camera up to professional slandered commercials created by high end company's such as Coca Cola and Nike. youtube has also become a place where people get together and start to create more then just skit commercials or one off vlogs, they have now started to create daily shows for people to watch stared up dramas and news shows allowing a world wide audience to come and enjoy there content. A few of the most watched shows are SxePhils news show in which he covers news story topics and random facts, another is black box TV which creates short story dramas on a weekly/monthly basis, other people such as raywilliamjohnson and ijustine post tec reviews vlogs news shows and funny videos, in its self creating there own tv channel with an on demand style service where the viewer can chooses to watch the content if the so wish to.

another way that we a a generation consume TV and media its self is through smart phones/iphones and web tablet style devices, this allows us to stream/download TV content directly to our device and the consume the media in our own time while on a train/bus/taxi ect. this allows us to be able to keep more in touch the the media and the world around us and also means that we as a generation and share and give feedback on TV programs news storeys ect in an easier and simpler way, this allows TV company’s and corporations to be able to aim programs story and channels at selective target audiences to make sure that they can make the most amount of money

Every day we as a country are introduced to more ways of consuming TV, yet still for a few hours of each day we sit down in front of a conventional television and watch. while this is the oldest and most common way to watch and consume TV programs it has changed a lot for the original TV that was developed in the early 30s.

Firstly the way we receive TV is changing as we speak, slowly the old analogue signals and being switched off and we are changing over to digital, this allows more channels to be sent through one signal allowing for more content and grater variety for us as consumers, next is the on demand and internet series that are being introduced, this allows us the consumer to watch TV on demand and not be scheduled the TV channels and programs we want to watch. it also means we can download programs we wish to watch but cannot view at that time and the watch them at a later date just like recording on to a VHS tape but with a lot less hassle and stress and you can do it at the press of just one button, with options to link it and with out having to change  tapes.

Creating TV has also become a lot easier over the years. with the introduction of a pc in nearly every home as well as the low costs in software and cameras you can start creating and publishing programs you have created for £200-300 which is a lot less then that of the few million that company’s such as the BBC spend on some of there programs, and at not that greater quality.

With the introduction of this also being taught in schools colleges and university the way we consume and create the TV we and billions of others around the world watch everyday is forever chaging and adapting to suit the latest technology and trends that are forever changing around the world

Brief History of TV in the UK

It is believed that the first ever television was invited in 1897 by a German inventor called Karl Braun. Born in  Hesse-Kassel, Germany on the 6th of June 1850, Karl grew up to become a physics professor at the university of Strasbourg, while still teaching at the university he developed and built the first ever cathode-ray tube and oscilloscope (CRT) which resembles the old style modern box style TVs which only now are being replaced by the flat screen technology like liquid chyristal display (LCD) , light emitting diode (LED) or Plasma displays.

while this is the first TV that is similar to what we in today generation sometimes still use, other inventors also helped contribute to the invention and development of the modern day television, one of these is John Logie Baird who some people claim is the real inventor of the television, but other people also disagree claiming another inventor Philo Taylor Farnsworth was actually the inventor of the television.

While John and Philo seem to have invented the television after Karl Braun (John in 1924 and Philo in 1927) John seems to get a lot more credit then and according to history books and websites is the main developer of the television and this is taught in schools in Britain, and in some parts of the world. where as in America it is Philo that gets the credit and in Germany and Japan Karl Braun is the one who is credited. I have chosen to go with Karl Braun as the person who invented the television as his is most like modern days

while this is the invention of the TV there was no actual form of broadcasting and transmitting signals to the TVs, this happens in 1922 on the  18th  of October in the UK, this was when the BBC (British Broadcasting Company) was first set up and founded. 2 weeks after this happened the license fees where brought in costing at the time 10 shillings which amounts to about £22.30 using the retail price index in today’s money, which is a lot less then the £145 that we have to pay today, granted we do receive a lot more content and channels then back then and of course it is in colour but it is still a large increase since it started.

TV from here progressed and new inventions where made including the invention of the colour tv in 1946 and into the high definition use in TV and now starting into the 3d side of tv, tv will progress as long as we the target market consume and look for higher and better advances in tv
